Basic Book Pamphlets

These basic books are pamphlets with topographic maps or marine charts for covers. They come in two widths.

Basic Books

I give handmade books to friends and often they find them too pretty to use. I get frustrated by this. I'd much rather people use them and ask for more!

So I developed this line of books that are attractive and handsewn, but don't seem too precious to use.

The covers are plain cardstock and the pages are at least 20% recycled paper. They feature exposed spine bindings in various colors of thread.

Repurposed Library Books

I breath new life into discarded library and thrift store books. First, I remove the pages from the old book. Then I make new text blocks by incorporating pages from other discarded books and sewing them onto cotton webbing. Finally, I attach the new pages to the original book covers.

Blank journals with various covers

Hand sewn blank journals using recycled paper and various cover materials: (clockwise from top right) Formica cover, metallic cover, leather cover, wallpaper cover.
